Hours: 12-hour shifts with availability for evenings, weekends, and occasional after-hours emergency repairs 

Position Summary 

The Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, clean, and functional operation of The Gathering Place’s facilities. This hands-on position involves performing a wide range of repairs, upkeep, and routine maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining spaces that serve individuals experiencing homelessness and marginalization. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Perform general maintenance and repairs including drywall, painting, carpentry, flooring, and ceiling tile work
  


• Conduct minor plumbing repairs and assist with troubleshooting building systems
  


• Carry out routine inspections of facilities and mechanical equipment to identify safety or maintenance concerns
  


• Support relocation and storage of supplies, furniture, and equipment as needed
  


• Complete assigned maintenance service requests efficiently and safely
  


• Respond to emergency repair needs outside of regular working hours when required
  


• Ensure all maintenance tasks are performed in accordance with occupational health and safety standards and organizational policies
  


• Perform other related duties as assigned to support facility operations
  

 Qualifications & Skills 

• Certificate in Carpentry required; related trade or equivalent experience will be considered
  


• 1–2 years of relevant experience in commercial or residential property maintenance is an asset
  


• Demonstrated ability to perform general repairs and maintenance with proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, and painting
  


• Solid understanding of safe work practices and the ability to follow health and safety protocols
  


• Dependable, organized, and able to manage physical demands of the role, including lifting and manual labor
  


• Valid driver’s license
  


• Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check required
  

 Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered.
