Manager of Integrated Health Services
Position: Full-Time, Permanent Reports to: Health Director Organizational Unit: Health Administration Representation Status: Non-Unionized
As a member of the Management Team, and reporting to the Health Director, the Manager of Integrated Health Services will provide health advocacy and clinical leadership across Primary Care, Community Health, Diabetes Care, Maternal Child Health, Diabetes, Home and Community Cares to promote best practices and interdisciplinary cooperation.
Essential Functions:
Manage and lead employees in the designated departments including assigning work, performance management, hiring, discipline and termination of employees
Working with the Management Team, participate in the planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the overall health strategy. Recommend areas for expansion or elimination consistent with the strategic plan.
Champion the development of an organizational culture of quality, safety, inquiry and patient/client focus
Review current health policies, guidelines and all available data on health outcomes to assess effectiveness and efficacy. Use environmental scan and/or needs’ assessment methodology to guide analysis
Promote stewardship of financial, organizational and human resources rules
Identify organizational learning and development plans related to professional practice and provide opportunities for continuous learning
Collaborate with clinical leads to implement evidence based clinical guidelines
Monitor and evaluate all clinical practice reports, patient/client complaints and recommendations to identify corrective action
Review and implement Human Resource policies and have access to confidential labour relations and financial information
Implements and communicates strategies that enhance collaboration
Contribute to capacity building through mentorship and helpful feedback
Update or establish organizational practice standards that align with health professionals’ college requirements, care standards and funder guidelines
Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing and professional practice programs to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and evidence-based standards
Engages community stakeholders to gather input and ensure community needs inform the organization’s health strategy
Collaborates with the HR manager to develop and implement nursing workforce planning and recruitment strategies that support service demands and organizational growth
Monitor that clinician and professional licenses are renewed each year
Works with the Manager of Operations to analyze clinical and operational data to guide evidence-informed practice and quality improvement
In conjunction with the Manager of Operations, research, review and update safety protocols, ensuring a clean and security environment for patients and employees according to Accreditation Canada standards
Contributes clinical expertise to capital project planning and facility design processes to ensure patient-centred, efficient and safe environments
Leads the development and coordination of nursing and emergency preparedness activities to ensure organizational readiness for critical events
Act as Co-Privacy Officer to the Eskasoni Privacy Officer under the Personal Health Information Act and Legislation
Clinical or Health and Safety Incidents:
Identify and report health and safety incidents
Investigate adverse events by performing root cause analysis and gathering all relevant information as it pertains to the event
Contribute to a safe workplace by cultivating positive safety practices
Review clinic incidents and recommend/implement improvements to prevent future occurrences
Enable supportive and effective conversations regarding professional and clinical practices
Deliver or arrange training for employees.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in health-related discipline
Minimum three (3) years recent experience in a leadership or management position
Familiarity with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends
Strong attention to detail
Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to speak and understand Mi’kmaw, an asset.
