NAIT International is actively looking for an International Engagement Coordinator to support the International Engagement team. This individual will champion international student success and support community building and sense of belonging for the international student population at NAIT. The coordinator leads the International Peer Group (IPG) program, is actively involved in programming throughout the year to facilitate engagement through workshops, social and cultural activities, and other student engagement activities. These efforts empower international students to build their community and get involved in the larger NAIT community and thrive throughout their time at NAIT.
The International Engagement Coordinator, reporting to the Supervisor, International Engagement & Settlement, will help achieve these accomplishments by carrying out the following:
Key Responsibilities:
Work and collaborate with the International Engagement team to provide outstanding programming throughout the year to build community and sense of belonging
Plan, budget, develop, recruit, manage, and evaluate the International Peer Mentor program using theories, research, publications and best practices to support student development.
Identify international student needs and develop programming that is agile and meets the needs of the international community
Communicate through a variety of media (social media, Newsletter, etc.) to inform the NAIT community of events the International and Intercultural Community Centre (IICC).
Collaborate with the broader International Student Experience team to create a streamlined approach to supporting the international student experience.
Collaborate internally to build relationships and highlight key supports on campus, available to all students and empower international students to access these supports (Career Services, Counselling, Recreation, Writing Centre, etc.)
Skills & Abilities:
Understanding of NAIT’s mission, goals, and values in addition to NAIT’s International Education strategy and NAIT International’s vision
Strong understanding of the international student lifecycle, intercultural competence and international student's unique needs
Substantial knowledge of and experience with event planning
Familiarity with and ability to research, comprehend, and apply theories on student development and support services
Project management skills
Strength in working with cross campus partners, staff, administration, and outside agencies
Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, written, presentation, and facilitation
A high level of self-awareness and the capacity to work within complex environments of diverse populations complemented with high levels of intercultural communication skills
Support the development and administration of evaluation techniques
Flexibility, willingness to learn new approaches, ability to synthesize information and develop innovative solutions to problems
Superior organizational and time management skills to ensure delivery of services and special projects meet deadlines that are within standards and on budget
Strategic thinking and goal development skills
Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, PeopleSoft and survey technology are essential; capacity to learn new systems is important
Qualifications:
Post-secondary diploma is required. Related Degree as preferred.
Considerable related experience (3-5 years) is required. Minimum 2 years in event planning and coordination. Preference is given if the experience is within an educational setting.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Positive attitude and teamwork orientated.
Ability to work in a flexible and changing environment.
Ability to interact effectively with individuals from over 80 countries.
Equivalencies may be considered.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
