Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure and IT Security, the IT Security Analyst advances prevention of, and response to, cybersecurity incidents across NBCC by promoting cybersecurity awareness and best practices to staff. The incumbent also plays a pivotal role in safeguarding NBCC's digital assets by assessing and fortifying its security posture through working closely with NBCC staff, and partner institutions on incident and vulnerability prevention, monitoring, detection, and response.
In this role you will:
Threat Detection and Mitigation: Leverage tools and technologies to monitor network traffic, identify anomalies, and promptly respond to potential security incidents. Implements and sustains security measures aimed at safeguarding against cyber threats, malware, and unauthorized access, while also collaborating with vendors to ensure comprehensive protection.
Incident Response: Develop and execute incident response plans, ensuring a rapid and effective response to cybersecurity incidents. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to contain and remediate security breaches while minimizing potential damage.
Vulnerability Monitoring and Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address weaknesses in the institution's systems and infrastructure. Identifies and suggests proactive measures to mitigate vulnerabilities and enhance the institution's overall security posture.
Security Awareness: Design and implement cybersecurity awareness training programs for NBCC staff, faculty, and students to raise awareness about common cyber threats, social engineering tactics, and best practices for maintaining a secure digital environment.
Policy Development and Compliance: Create and revise cybersecurity policies, protocols, and standards, guaranteeing they adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with IT teams, management, and end-users to foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness. Communicates effectively about security risks, best practices, and updates, aiming to create a collective understanding of the importance of cybersecurity.
This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NBUPPE - Information Technology collective agreement for the College.
