Organizational Profile
Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. The transition from the RCMP to SPS is well underway and SPS has spent the past three years building a local, modern, accountable police service for Surrey residents. On November 29, 2024, SPS will become the police of jurisdiction, assuming responsibility for policing and law enforcement in Surrey.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Technical Lead to join the growing Support Services Bureau at SPS. The IT Technical Lead will provide technical direction and leadership for strategic projects, processes, systems, and functional areas. Responsibilities will include leading the infrastructure or applications environment build, configuration, and integration while ensuring that project teams adhere to quality control standards.

Reporting to the IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager, the IT Technical Lead will work with project managers to define project scope, deliverables, priorities, and schedules. They will design and deliver IT solutions in collaboration with project teams and stakeholders. The IT Technical Lead will act as a technical liaison between business units, vendors, and IT Operations resources while also leading the development of technical design, configuration, sustainment, and other operations & maintenance documentation. They will provide subject matter expertise to operational teams for maintaining system operations and troubleshooting during outages.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of enterprise business applications integrations, web applications, database technology, cloud, security and mobile and web technologies, and the software development lifecycle. The successful candidate should possess strong communication skills, efficiency, thoroughness, initiative, and the ability to build relationships that contribute to team cohesion and collaboration. Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to remain calm in stressful situations, and effective management of complex tasks under tight deadlines are essential. The ideal candidate will have a two (2) year Diploma in Information Systems plus a minimum of six (6) years in an IT implementation role, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $55.86/hour -$63.35/hour (pay grade 31) based on 2024 Rates.
