Jëje Zho Case Worker - Term 


Department:  Justice 


Location: Tr’ondek Hwech’in Offices – Dawson, YT 


Posting Date:  April 24, 2025 


Standard Hours Bi-Weekly:  40 - 60 


Start Date:  Immediately 


End Date:  One (1) year from start date with possible extension 


Salary:  Level 5 Step 1 ($36.39 hourly) 


 


Closing Date 4:00pm (YST):  May 7, 2025 


 


Reporting to the Jëjë Zho Manager, the Jëjë Zho Case worker provides direct support and case management services to Jëjë Zho clients. This involves assessing client needs, developing individualized service plans, and coordinating resources and support services in the areas of education, employment, risk prevention, securing permanent housing, and submitting referrals to residential treatment centres. The incumbent works with other TH Departments and external agencies such as Yukon Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services, Yukon Health and Social Services, Dawson City Community Hospital and Blood Ties Four Directions to provide wrap around support services and person-centered case planning. The incumbent participates in developing a reintegration strategy for TH Citizens returning from incarceration or substance treatment facilities. The incumbent travels to Whitehorse every three months to assist TH Citizens who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless.

 


An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:  



  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in social work, addictions counselling or other social and humanities fields, combined with a minimum of two years of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills and knowledge may be considered.

  • In-depth knowledge of mental health and addictions, alcohol and drug abuse, FASD, family abuse, family violence, sexual abuse, child abuse and neglect.

  • Knowledge of community referral programs and services.

  • Knowledge of TH Government structures and TH culture, traditions, history, demographics, family structures, socio-economic dynamics, challenges and aspirations, and basic Hän language phrases.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the intergenerational impacts of Residential Schools on individuals, families and communities.

  • Experience in planning, implementing, facilitating and evaluating presentations and workshops.

  • Experience in assessing, developing and implementing case management plans.

  • Training in conflict resolution and de-escalation.

  • Class 5 Driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract.

  • Standard First Aid and Mental Health First Aid (or willingness to obtain).

  • TH101 Cultural Awareness training.

  • Harm reduction and Naloxone training.

  • ASIST (or willingness to obtain)
