Jewelry Technical Designer

I joined the company 6 years ago and have had an amazing experience creating designs for the jewelry line.  This is a very exciting time for our team, with limitless possibilities and creativity at the forefront. The Opportunity: 

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Jewelry Technical Designer to join our Product Development Team reporting to our Design Director. In this role, you will help develop designs that accurately reflect the brand’s aesthetic and overall vision. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in fashion, creatively motivated, curious, and proactive, with a strong ability to understand the brand DNA through its products.

As a Technical CAD Designer, you will be responsible for translating conceptual ideas, sketches, or specifications into detailed and accurate 3D models using Rhinoceros 3D software. You will collaborate closely with the Creative Director and Product Design team to transform creative concepts into production-ready 3D models.

Responsibilities: 

• Create intermediate pieces with limited supervision understanding collection and brand aesthetics fluently.
• Knowledge and ability to create mechanisms such as claps, connections, linkages and other jewelry mechanisms.
• Provide input and suggestions on building techniques.
• Being knowledgeable of production techniques and how to build and split models for various production processes is a plus.
• Collaborate with the Product Development (PD) team to communicate with overseas vendors, review the vendors CAD files for technical viability, provide technical feedback and problem solving solutions. 
• Approve mold photos from overseas vendors.
• Monitor the sampling process with the PD team and overseas vendors, revising as needed to improve production.
• Suggest improvements and make corrections to samples throughout the development process.
• Maintain organized documentation of all CAD files, including revision files and all previous versions. Organize archives, libraries, and file storage.
• Adhere to company standards, procedures, and best practices for CAD design and drafting.
• Provide support in creating production specifications as needed, particularly during employee absences or peak times
• Contribute to concepting and sketching with the design team when requested.

Note that some of the above responsibilities may be tweaked slightly based on the candidate's experience and areas of strength. Any such minor amendments to the above will be shared with the candidate as a part of the hiring process.

What you bring to the table:

• Over 3 years of CAD experience specific to jewelry required.
• Expertise in Computer-Aided Design (Rhinoceros 3D).
• Proficiency in CAD, Keyshot, Rhino, and other design tools; knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to bring creative ideas to life through 3D modeling.
• Expertise in translating ideas into 3D models while maintaining the brand vision.
• Extensive knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes, and materials.
• Ability to support the team in preparing technical packages/specs and communicating all important details to our production partners.
• Knowledge of the luxury goods market and a strong fashion sense is a plus
