Reception House is a non-profit, community-based organization that delivers quality settlement, integration and support services to refugees and newcomers in Waterloo Region. Since 1987, Reception House has helped thousands of refugees rebuild their lives in Canada through specialized programs and services designed to help them become established in their new communities.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Job Developer on our employment team. The Job Developer plays a key role in building employer relationships and negotiating placements, ensuring successful job matches and client retention. They will act as the main point of contact for employers and work closely with the Employment Specialists to coordinate client placements. The Job Developer is an outgoing, personable and reliable worker who enjoys meeting new people and building relationships.
What you’ll do:
- Meet with local businesses and employers to determine recruitment needs and negotiate potential job placements for clients.
- Use sales tactics to build professional relationships with prospective local employers, selling RH employment services and clients.
- Provide excellent customer service to employers, building strong partnerships and acting as the main employer contact.
- Analyse labour market data and client outcomes to refine job development strategies and track successful job placements.
- Work closely with the Employment Specialists to identify job opportunities that match the skills and interests of clients to facilitate successful job placement.
- Collaborate with employers to generate employment opportunities and support successful placements.
- Develop job descriptions and specifications in collaboration with employers.
- Share new job opportunities with ECMs and others as indicated in department procedures.
- Attend employment-related events to promote RH Employment services to new employers and secure employment opportunities for clients.
- Regularly update the database as needed, tracking employment outcomes, collecting feedback, and offering recommendations on program activities.
- Support ECMs when needed with client job search preparation activities.
What you’ll need:
- Post secondary education in human services, marketing or any business-related field.
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar or related role, such as job development, business development, B2B sales, or employment services.
- Knowledge of Employment Ontario protocols and processes is an asset.
- Knowledge of the local labor market, employment pathways and trends is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Employment Ontario databases an asset.
- Able to think critically and use resources effectively.
- Ability to create presentations and resources.
- Strong time management and organization skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a desire to meet new people, network and leverage relationships with employers.
