SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Reporting to the Project Manager, Elections Education & Supports, the Election Officer (Candidates & Outreach) is responsible for assisting with all election outreach activities and will act as the main point of contact for candidates and third-party advertisers.
GENERAL DUTIES
Responsible for assisting in the delivery of election outreach activities and events.
Assist in the development of election-related information and correspondence.
Act as the primary point of contact for candidates and third-party advertisers providing information and materials as required to assist throughout the campaign period.
Assist with the registration of voters, third-party advertisers, and nomination of candidates.
Maintain updated information, policies and procedures, website information and candidate/third-party communications.
Relay relevant information to internal stakeholders responsible for answering phone and email inquiries and ensure information remains up-to-date and accurate.
Receive and respond to election-related inquiries from Members of Council, candidates, Election workers and the general public.
Perform revisions to Preliminary List of Electors; revise, maintain, finalize, produce, and distribute the voters’ list.
Assist in the acceptance of financial submissions from candidates and third-party advertisers.
Following election, dismantle and store supply boxes, election equipment, and provide Coordinator with an Election Assessment (list of problem areas, successes, and recommended actions, etc.) for next Municipal Election.
Must be flexible in work schedules and available to work overtime as required to meet election operational needs.
Work in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
Perform other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job.
QUALIFICATIONS
NOTE 1:
Must be flexible in work schedule and available to work overtime during peak election time.
NOTE 2:
This vacancy is due to a project with a term of approximately 12 months.
