SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Reporting to the Supervisor, Zoning By-law Reform, conducts research for city initiated zoning reviews; assist in formulating zones and zoning by-law regulations for the City’s comprehensive Zoning By-law; contributes to implementing public engagement programs; prepares reports; evaluates data to inform zoning recommendations.
GENERAL DUTIES
Administers the City’s Zoning By-laws
Maintains the City’s Zoning By-laws through comprehensive updates.
Interprets Provincial Legislation such as the Planning Act and associated regulations.
Reviews and interprets zoning by-laws and by-law regulations.
Conducts research for special studies and reports on zoning by-law regulations/uses and other planning and policy matters.
Receives and answers inquiries from staff, other departments, the public, elected officials, municipalities, ministries, and outside agencies.
Contributes to public engagement programs; participates in public information meetings, stakeholder meeting, neighbourhood meeting.
Identifies and evaluate alternatives, formulates conclusion; prepares and presents recommendations to committee.
Writes reports such as committee and Council reports.
Inputs, manipulates and retrieves data; compiles and analyzes statistics.
Maintains records such as inquiries, meetings and reports.
Conducts site inspections; takes notes and photographs.
Plans and makes arrangements for meetings with for internal staff, public consultation and stakeholder groups.
Represents Department at meetings such as client, interdepartmental and public meetings.
Coordinates, prepares and presents evidence as expert witness at Ontario Land Tribunal hearings.
Performs other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job.
Works in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
SALARY: Salary Grade L
HOURS: 35 per week
