Role Summary:
Bouchier is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for our CNRL Horizon Camp Maintenance site. Reporting to the Superintendent and General Foreman, this role involves installing and repairing electrical wire, cable, and equipment within camp dormitories and other structures. Responsibilities encompass both indoor and outdoor assignments directed by supervision, ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and efficient completion of maintenance tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:
Follow procedures as defined in the CEC (Canadian Electrical Code)
Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as multimeters and megohmmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including multimeters, and megohmmeters.
Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors, transformers, circuit breaker panels and disconnects.
Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts.
Cut, thread, bend, assemble and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
Position, maintain and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels and fuse enclosures.
Install and insulate self-regulating heat trace and test with multimeter and megohmmeter.
Lockout electrical systems for all trades
Other duties as required by supervision such as assisting laborers, carpenters, and plumbers.
Education & Experience:
Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrician Ticket or Red Seal Certification is required.
4+ years’ experience within Residential or Commercial Construction Projects
Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Knowledge with computers: Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
Excellent communication and Customer Service skills.
Must be able to work in a variety of conditions.
Safety conscious attitude
Ability to get along well with others on a work team.
CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019)
