The Opportunity – Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter

MM Limited Partnership (MML), a Mikisew Group company, is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter to join our operation at Syncrude Canada Site. MML provides comprehensive Client services in facility maintenance, road and grounds, projects, winterization services and industrial refrigeration services.

• Shift: 4-10 schedule – Monday to Thursday 10 hours a day


• Wage: Per collective agreement/General Presidents Maintenance Agreement (GPMA) Must be willing/able to join the Union IBEW 488

Purpose & Key Accountabilities

This position will focus on the daily operations, repairs, installation and preventive maintenance to ensure all equipment is in regulatory safety compliance.

Responsibilities will include the following:

• Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire sprinkler systems and components.


• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sprinkler system plans.


• Perform piping installation, layout, fabrication, and modifications.


• Troubleshoot and repair sprinkler system issues.


• Complete inspections and testing in accordance with applicable standards and site requirements.


• Maintain accurate documentation and service records.


• Follow all company, client, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.


• Work effectively with supervisors, trades, and other site personnel.


• Maintain a clean and safe work area.


• Perform other duties related to the position as required.


• Maintains and track assigned company tools.


• Maintain the assigned company truck and submit timely truck inspection reports and drivers logs as required.


• Complete Incident Reports and FLRA’s as required.

Qualifications Education & Experience

• Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter certification recognized in Alberta.


• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Sprinkler Fitter, preferably in an industrial or oil sands environment.


• Valid Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) Journeyperson certificate.


• Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, sprinkler installation, maintenance, testing, and repairs.


• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.


• Experience working with various piping systems, fittings, valves, and sprinkler components.


• Knowledge of applicable Alberta safety regulations, fire codes, and industry standards.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-focused environment.


• This position requires working at heights, standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, kneeling and crawling


• Trouble Shooting of Control Circuits Experience                        


• Rigging, Manlift, Harness Training Experience.                                      


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients as well as internally with operational personnel.


• Competent understanding of Company/Client procedures.


• Proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.


• Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.


• Decision-making and problem-solving ability.

Site Required Training

• CSTS/OSSA or BSO equivalent


• Valid safety tickets and site-specific certifications as required.


• ESC- Confined Space & Elevated Work plat form


• Valid Class 5 Drivers License & Clean Driving Record
