Job Description

New Horizon Co-op is hiring a Journeyperson Scratch Baker at our Trade Ridge Food Store in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

What you’ll do:

• Provide an excellent customer experience


• Prepare, mix, and bake a variety of products including breads, rolls, buns, pastries, cookies, and specialty items according to established recipes


• Operate commercial bakery equipment including mixers, proofers, ovens, and slicers safely and efficiently.


• Monitor product quality, freshness, and consistency throughout the baking process.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment, including daily sanitation of bakery areas.


• Rotate inventory and remove outdated or unsellable products to minimize waste.
  


• Perform additional duties as required

Who you are:

• Excellent communication and customer service skills


• Red Seal Journeyperson Baker Certification (or equivalent) required


• Minimum 2–3 years of professional baking experience in a commercial or retail setting


• Strong understanding of baking techniques, ingredient functions, and food safety regulations
  


• Comfortable with physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50lbs
  


• Available to work early mornings on weekdays and weekends
