Saltworks Technologies is a global leader in advanced industrial desalination and lithium refining. Our innovative machines produce clean water from high-strength industrial discharges and refine lithium to support the energy transition. We offer meaningful and exciting work in a collaborative environment, driven by innovation and problem-solving. Saltworks is a 2025 Fast 50 Company and EY Entrepreneur of the Year award winner - a testament to our growth, financial performance, and positive contributions.

The role

Saltworks is hiring a Junior Commissioning Engineer/Technologist to support the startup and delivery of advanced clean technology systems. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their engineering career who is eager to grow their skills in a hands-on, dynamic environment.

In this role, you will support the planning and execution of commissioning activities at our facility and at customer sites, working alongside and learning from experienced engineers and technologists. You will be exposed to the full project lifecycle and collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to help bring innovative clean technology systems to life.

This position involves approximately 50% travel to customer sites, with field rotations typically lasting 2-3 weeks. Some projects may require longer stays or more frequent travel over a 6- to 12-week period, depending on customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support factory and on-site commissioning, troubleshooting, and handovers alongside multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and resource coordination for factory and fieldwork.
  • Support the refinement of commissioning procedures and best practices.
  • Provide feedback to improve the design of future systems.
  • Represent Saltworks at customer sites, both locally and internationally.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally to customer sites without restrictions.
  • An Engineering degree or diploma (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Integrated, or related).
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in commissioning, fieldwork, or technical project support.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and commissioning practices.
  • Exposure to mechanical or electrical systems, hydro testing, instrumentation, or process control is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with a safety-first mindset.

Why join Saltworks?

We have an outstanding team that is passionate about innovation and solving key environmental challenges facing our planet.

Join a team pioneering the future of water and lithium. Some of our customers include world-leading electric vehicle makers, semiconductor firms, mining companies, agriculture firms, and more!

We offer

  • A collaborative and rewarding work environment.
  • A competitive compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, RRSP matching, life insurance, AD&D coverage, and an education allowance.
  • A culture that supports safety, innovation, learning, diversity, and teamwork.
  • Fun social activities and company events.
