Junior to Intermediate Materials Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior to Intermediate Materials Engineer to join our growing team in Bedford, NS. The successful candidate will support the delivery of materials engineering services and develop technical expertise across a wide range of projects. Our geotechnical and materials division specializes in geotechnical and materials engineering consulting.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Provide materials engineering consulting services for sectors such as industrial, commercial, municipal, highway, and residential projects;


• Assist with condition assessments and materials testing of concrete structures and support the development of concrete repair strategies, including structures affected by Alkali-Aggregate Reactivity (AAR);


• Support consulting services related to:
  
  
  
  • Thermal control measures for mass concrete applications;
  
  
  • Shrinkage control measures to minimize cracking of concrete structures;
  
  
  • Protection of concrete structures in chemical exposure environments;
  
  
  
  


• Contribute to the preparation of proposals, technical reports, drawings, and specifications for materials engineering works; and


• Support input into CCIL laboratory certification.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

• A degree in Civil or Materials Engineering with a focus on infrastructure construction materials (concrete, asphalt pavement, aggregates). A post‑graduate degree (master’s degree or higher) would be a strong asset;


• At least two (2) years of experience in the Materials Engineering field;


• Eligibility for registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or P.Eng. with the provincial association; and


• Experience in concrete engineering including assessment, design and construction support for concrete elements is preferred;


• Experience or interest in asphalt pavement mix design, pavement condition assessment, and laboratory testing of physical and volumetric properties of asphalt would be considered an asset.
