POSITION OVERVIEW
The Registered Psychologist provides psychological assessment, counselling, consultation, and clinical support services to children and youth receiving services within Kainaiwa Children's Services Corporation's Residential Services programs. The Psychologist conducts psychological assessments on children, provides recommendations to support treatment and care planning, assists with crisis response, and collaborates with residential staff and leadership to support the safety and well-being of children and youth. Services are provided on a flexible and mutually arranged schedule based on operational and client needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct psychological assessments for children and youth as required.
Prepare written assessment reports and recommendations.
Provide individual counselling and therapeutic support services.
Participate in case consultations and treatment planning discussions.
Provide clinical guidance and recommendations to residential staff and leadership.
Support crisis intervention and critical incident response when required.
Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation.
Collaborate with internal and external service providers to support positive outcomes for children and youth.
Travel between Residential Services program locations to meet operational and client service needs.
Ensure services are delivered in accordance with professional standards, applicable legislation, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary degree in Psychology from a recognized institution.
Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
Demonstrated experience conducting psychological assessments for children and youth.
Experience providing counselling and therapeutic interventions.
Experience working with children, youth, and families with complex behavioural, emotional, mental health, or trauma-related needs.
Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.
Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong assessment, counselling, and crisis intervention skills.
Knowledge of child and youth mental health, behavioural challenges, and trauma-informed practice.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and maintain confidentiality.
Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond effectively in dynamic environments.
