POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Supervisor of the Blood Tribe Youth Wellness Centre, the Youth Addictions Worker will conduct all aspects of the program while working with a team in the delivery of treatment based, residential programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide individual and group counselling to youth in a residential treatment setting.
Develop and implement structured and unstructured therapeutic programming and activities.
Support case management, including behaviour management and treatment planning.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily logs, intake reports, progress reports, summaries, and treatment team meeting minutes.
Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary professionals and family members.
Ensure a safe, secure, and supportive environment free from emotional, physical, sexual, drug, and alcohol abuse.
Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to team\-based service delivery.
Maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
Perform other related duties in support of youth treatment services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post\-secondary degree or diploma in Human Services, Social Sciences, or a related field, or Certified Addictions Counsellor Level II designation with relevant experience.
Valid Class 5 Driverâs License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Successful completion of Child Welfare Information System check and Criminal Record Check.
Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Current ASIST and CPI training or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of current addictions treatment models and best practices.
Understanding of youth at\-risk behaviours, trauma\-informed practice, and safety procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of Blackfoot language and culture is considered an asset.
Effective documentation and organizational skills.
Ability to build rapport with youth while maintaining professional boundaries.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Personal integrity and commitment to act as a positive role model.
Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive information.
Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
