Who You Are

The Kitchen Assistant plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. This position assists with food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, stocking supplies, and supporting kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations while maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. 

What You’ll Do:

• Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.


• Restock kitchen supplies, utensils, and cleaning products as needed.


• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, food preparation areas, storage areas, and garbage/recycling stations.


• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing equipment and manual methods as needed.


• Maintain a clean and sanitized dishwashing area, including floors, sinks, and work surfaces.


• Ensure clean dishes and equipment are properly stored and readily available for kitchen staff.


• Remove waste, recycling, and compost while following proper disposal procedures.


• Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.


• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety regulations.


• Support cooks and other kitchen staff with general kitchen tasks as assigned.


• Maintain a positive attitude and work effectively as part of a team.

Job Requirements 

• Previous kitchen and/or dishwashing experience is an asset, but training will be provided.


• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.


• Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.


• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when required.


• Commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and workplace health and safety standards.


• Physically able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 50 lbs.


• Comfortable working around commercial kitchen equipment, hot water, and cleaning chemicals.
