Legal Aid Alberta is seeking to fill a Permanent Full Time, Manager, Justice Services Operations in our downtown Edmonton office.This position will appeal to an individual that likes to take initiative, is client focused and is exceptionally strong in delivering high-quality results.

As a publicly funded, non-profit organization, Legal Aid Alberta provides affordable legal services in family law,domestic violence, child welfare, immigration, and youth and adult criminal defense. We are Alberta-wide, with 300 staff and 1,200 private practice lawyers helping people overcome their legal challenges in more than 75 communities across the province.

Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Justice Services Operations Initiatives, some key responsibilities are:
Leadership
- Work with the Director, Justice Services Operations to oversee the planning, implementation, and execution of all aspects of the Justice Services Operations team.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the organizations’ strategic goals and objectives and industry trends to tailor Justice Services programs and initiatives accordingly.
Management and Oversight
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and information sessions to the Justice Services Operations team.
- Develop initiatives and participate in or sponsor projects in conjunction with IT and/or the Business Solutions & Reporting team to achieve Justice Services business and financial objectives.
- Participate in the strategic development and implementation of the Client and Case Management Modernization project.
- Develop and deliver a monthly Justice Services operational dashboard in conjunction with the Business Solutions & Reporting team.
- Create and monitor business service indicators for new initiatives to proactively identify efficiency issues and propose solutions based on business goals. Perform cost-benefit analyses as required.
- Support the business in accessing and understanding business data and analytics to develop operational initiatives ensuring they perform efficiently and make strategically guided decisions.
- Oversee the development and launch of training documentation and communication-related to process enhancement and updates.
- Monitor, maintain, and update the status of a Justice Services operational plan inclusive of timelines and owners on a quarterly basis.
Human Resources Management
- Responsible for the recruitment, development, motivation, and retention of assigned staff conforming to budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, business administration would be considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in business operations or legal service delivery.
- 2 years of managerial experience in a relevant role is required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent understanding and ability to effectively apply leadership best practices, both for own direct reports and across other teams and levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated experience setting, monitoring and meeting quarterly and annual goals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and budgeting experience.
- An understanding of business analytics and data visualization.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft (office, excel, word, PowerPoint), and D365 CRM is an asset.
- Project Management methodology knowledge is an asset.
- Leadership and strategic thinking skills.
- Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, logical, problem-solving, and project management skills, as well as sound business judgment.
- Ability to investigate facts, identify issues, ascertain organizational objectives, consider alternative solutions, analyze risk, and advise client and/or LAA on the appropriate course of action.
