What does the job look like? 
As a member of the Planning & Public Works Department, Operations Division, the Labourer works on and provides day-to-day construction and maintenance to County Roads. The Labourer performs manual duties, uses small tools and equipment and ensures safety procedures are adhered to.  The Labourer also drives pick-up trucks and other light vehicles and is assigned specific tasks to complete each day. The Labourer is required to work as a Truck Driver (snow plowing) and/or Patrol Person, working a night shift and/or weekends during the winter months.

• Road & Roadside Maintenance: You will perform activities such as traffic control (flagging), pothole patching, weed whacking, brushing, ditching, shouldering, sign repairs, washout repairs, guide rail repairs, and snow plowing.

In accordance with County Policy, a Police Record Check that is acceptable to the County will be required as a condition of employment.

• Experience: You have experience working in labour intensive jobs such as construction, road maintenance, property maintenance, or a related field. You are comfortable operating equipment such as pickup trucks, tandem trucks, backhoes, loaders, forklifts, chainsaws, and chippers. Previous experience with snow removal, traffic control and flagging would be considered an asset.
