M’Chigeeng First Nation is seeking a knowledgeable individual who understands Anishnabek lands and First Nations status rights; prides him/herself as a quick learner, is reliable and can work independently. Reporting Relationship
The Lands and Resources Coordinator will report to the Office Administrator as the direct Supervisor who reports to the Enaagdenjged as Department Manager for the Administration Department.
Position Summary
Reports to the Office Administrator; works independently for the overall management of Reserve Lands & Environment Management Program (RLEMP) for the M’Chigeeng First Nation; maintains relationships and open communications with the organization and membership; and maintains strict confidentiality of community lands records information. Preforms duties relating to the Management of Lands required by Chief & Council. All work performed will be in accordance to applicable MFN Codes, Lands Management Manual, Personnel Policy and other laws pertinent lands management.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum
Post-Secondary Diploma in Administration, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Indigenous Studies or related field of study along with 2-years related work experience. Must be willing and eligible to enroll in the 2-Year Reserve Land & Environment Management Program (RLEMP), University of Saskatchewan and commitment to attend 3 times a year for the 2-year program.
Preferred
Post-Secondary Degree in Administration, Business Administration, Indigenous Studies or related field of study with 5 years direct work experience and 2-Year Certification of the Reserve Land & Environment Management Program (RLEMP), University of Saskatchewan.
Criminal Reference Check (CRC) Rationale: M’Chigeeng First Nation is in a position of trust to its band members and is committed to providing a safe and secure work environment. Applicants must have record clear and/or dated of convictions relating to fraud, drugs, assault and theft. The CRC must be current thirty (30) days and must be original.
RLEMP Information: Aboriginal Affairs & Northern Development Canada have a Reserve Land & Environment Management Program (RLEMP) to assist First Nations communities to increased responsibility over their reserve land, resources and environment. It is designed to recognize the full scope of land and environmental activities on reserve, to improve resource management through training, and to implement effective monitoring, compliance and reporting mechanisms. It is mandatory training offered only at the University of Saskatchewan. This program offers a blended learning program. Students travel to Saskatoon only three (3) times a year. Each time they are in Saskatoon they will participate in a two-week classroom-based experience. Classroom hours are comprised of lectures, labs and field trips. Upon completion of the two weeks in class experience, students are provided with take home final exams to work on while they are back in their home communities.
