Landscape Specialist (Planting / Softscape)

Garden City Tree & Landscape is seeking a skilled and motivated Softscape Specialist to join our growing team. This role blends hands-on landscape construction, plant knowledge, and softscape Installation

If you enjoy working outdoors, have a strong understanding of plant care, and can confidently plan and place plant material to enhance a space — we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and maintain softscape elements including trees, shrubs, perennials, and sod


• Perform planting, transplanting, soil preparation, and garden bed construction


• Assist with layout and design of planting areas, including plant placement and spacing


• Sketch simple planting plans or enhancement concepts for projects


• Identify plant species and diagnose plant health issues


• Apply proper plant care techniques including watering, pruning, and fertilization


• Work alongside construction crews on landscape builds


• Follow landscape plans and ensure high-quality installations

Qualifications:

• Hands on experience in landscaping, horticulture, nursery work, or softscape installation


• Horticultural knowledge and ability to understand plant health 


• Ability to sketch simple planting layouts or enhancement concepts


• Strong understanding of regional plant species and basic landscape design principles


• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions


• Physically capable of lifting, digging, and performing manual labor


• Team-oriented with a strong work ethic

Preferred Experience:

• Nursery or garden center experience


• Background in general landscape, softscape and garden bed installation


• Experience with plant selection and layout for residential or commercial landscapes

Compensation 

$26.5-$32 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Schedule:

• Regular: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM 


• Seasonal Hours (April 13 to September 27, 2026):
  Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (4 day a week 10 hour a day schedule)
  

Work Location: Different Greater Victoria work sites.
