Availability to work a variety of on call shifts including weekends.


 


Salary
Wage per hour $20.71 per hour.  This is a bargaining unit position, in the Professional Employees Association.

Summary


St. Margaret’s School (SMS) is Western Canada’s only girl-centered, independent day and boarding school located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on the unceded traditional territories of the Esquimalt Nations, Songhees Nations, and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations. Founded in 1908, SMS is an international centre for girl-centered learning and leadership development, providing empowering education for girls from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 (boarding grades 7–12). St. Margaret’s School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) School offering the Diploma Program.


 


St. Margaret’s School is seeking a dedicated and caring individual for the position of Auxiliary, Boarding Services – Laundry Worker. The Auxiliary Laundry Worker is responsible for the cleaning of linens, and for providing personal laundry service to boarding students while they are residing on Campus within a prescribed schedule. In addition, the Laundry Worker keeps the Boarding Manager apprised of any problems with equipment. Working with members of the St. Margaret’s community, the Laundry Worker will provide services in a courteous and respectful manner.

Duties and Responsibilities


Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:



  • Perform laundry functions for linens, towels, table covers, and clothing.

  • Fold, organize, sew buttons, and deliver clean laundry to residences and kitchen.

  • Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and request replacements when needed.

  • Operate washing and drying machines and ensure the proper maintenance for the laundry area.

  • Perform related duties as required.



Education and Experience



  • Grade 12 completion

  • One year of related laundry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and


         experience.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Ability to organize and prioritize laundry functions

  • Manual dexterity required to use laundry machines, folding laundry

  • Good verbal communication skills; able to speak and read English

  • Ability to exercise independence in laundry operations and ordering supplies

  • Ability to establish good relationships with boarders and staff

  • Able to take direction; and work independently



  • Ability to establish good relationships with staff, faculty and students

  • Positive role model to all members of the St. Margaret’s community

  • Actively support the vision, mission and values of our school
