Law Clerk, Clean Energy

We are seeking a passionate, driven and energetic candidate to join our team for the position of Law Clerk, Clean Energy located in our Head Office in Guelph, Ontario.

*The hired candidate for this role will be required to report into the office 4 days a week*

Job Description

As a Law Clerk, Clean Energy, you will be responsible for engaging in all aspects of real estate and clean energy practice with an emphasis on the buying, selling, financing, leasing, and ongoing management of clean infrastructure assets for the Skyline Clean Energy Fund. This includes but is not limited to conducting all necessary due diligence searches, conducting and reviewing title searches, preparing title requisitions, drafting closing documents, closing transactions with the use of Teraview, coordinating minor variance and severance applications, lease administration, coordinating corporate legal document management, and assisting with offering memoranda. 

What you will be doing:

• Lead the creation, organization, institution and ongoing development of legal processes and precedent documents for Skyline Clean Energy Fund transactions.
• Independently manage Clean Energy files including tasks related to purchase, sale, and financing transactions from beginning to end.
• Draft and coordinate necessary documents required for closing on the acquisition, disposition and financing of Clean Energy projects. 
• Complete title searches, review of land surveys, and preparation of requisition letters and associated follow-up.
• Complete transactional due diligence, including off-titles searches, drafting, organization, follow up and summarization of due diligence searches and document reviews.

What we look for:

• Broad foundation of legal concepts and applications relevant to the practice of corporate and commercial real estate law.
• Familiarity with and experience in corporate and administrative procedures involved in corporate and commercial real estate law.
• Must be familiar with the Act(s) governing the formation and operation of corporations and limited partnerships.
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrated commercial real estate law clerk experience required.
• Completion of Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario Certification or courses in corporate law an asset.
