Lead Facilitator - Back on Track

As a Facilitator for YMCA's Back on Track program, you will help youth who are experiencing challenges at school build confidence, strengthen connections, and successfully transition back into the classroom. Working closely with students, families, schools, and community partners, you will create a safe and supportive environment where youth feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to succeed.

• Reporting to: Manager, Community Programs


• Schedule: Full-Time, 32 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Through relationship-based support, skill development, and goal setting, participants gain the confidence and tools they need to successfully re-engage with their education. What You Will Do

You will support youth throughout their participation in the Back on Track program by:

• Building trust and creating a welcoming environment for youth who are struggling to have a positive experience at school.


• Helping participants explore attitudes toward school, identify motivators, and set actionable goals before they return to school.


• Creating a supportive environment and serving as a caring adult for youth experiencing challenges such as trauma, peer pressure, negative self-image, and school or home-related barriers.


• Delivering daily programming that helps youth build confidence, positive peer connections, and practical life skills.


• Building relationships with school administrators and maintaining regular communication with schools and families to support successful reintegration.


• Coordinating referrals to community resources and ensuring participant progress through consistent follow-up.


• Representing the program to school administrators and community partners, keeping Back on Track top of mind.

What You Bring

• Post-secondary education in Counselling, Psychology, Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, or a related field.


• Two or more years of experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.


• Strong conflict resolution, communication, and relationship-building skills.


• Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in complex situations.


• Experience facilitating workshops and engaging youth in meaningful activities.


• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong organizational skills.
