Under the supervision of the Project Manager, this position will ensure the effective operation of the various wastewater/drinking water facilities assigned throughout the Veolia Huron Hub. This position will ensure safety and environmental compliance with all regulatory & corporate standards is met at all the sites operated.

Main Responsibilities: 

1. Maintain communications with the Project Manager, Maintenance Manager, Office Manager and fellow operators regarding the status of the systems assigned and assist with Procurement
2. Assist Maintenance Manager to coordinate project management
3. Organize daily activities while maintaining communications with the Maintenance Manager, Office Manager and fellow operators regarding the status of the water/wastewater systems assigned
4. Conduct Operational Checks as required
5. Adjust, test and evaluate system operations/processes
6. Adjust or direct flow, pressure or quality of the water
7. Reports and acts upon non-conformances, works in conjunction with QACS Reps.
8. Attends MECP site Inspections or delegate to another Operator to attend
9. Identify and research efficiencies in facilities
10. Prepare budget estimates for client consideration
11. Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on the facilities' equipment
12. Follow and help develop the Standard Operating Procedures and Contingency Plans at each site
13. Perform routine calibration and verification of online and hand held instrumentation as per manufacturer’s manuals and SOPs
14. Collect and prepare samples for submission to accredited labs
15. Maintain records as required by the regulators, the clients and the company
16. Ensure optimal operations of water treatment processes through chemical dosage assessment and adjustment
17. Performs Operator Duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

• Valid Class of Ontario Certification in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, and Waste Water Treatment for work assigned
• Familiarity with the Ontario drinking water regulations as they apply to large and small municipally owned and private residential water systems
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Demonstrated technical skills
• 1 year experience in the waste/drinking water industry
• Good Communication skills
• Management and/or Supervisor Training
• Computer literacy
• Valid driver's license
