Job Description - Lead Project Engineer

We are part of the most complete lifting company in the world. Our corporate structure includes four world-class heavy equipment manufacturers, corporate - owned dealerships across US and Canada, the largest heavy equipment parts and service network in North America, and one of the most extensive factory-authorized technician training programs in North America.
We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer to support our Forklift and Telehandler product line. This role is a hands-on, forward-thinking engineering leadership position responsible for managing multiple projects from concept through completion, supporting both current products and new product development. The final compensation offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, and location. Essential Functions



• Lead full product development cycles from conception through completion utilizing a stage-gate process
• Develop and present technical and project updates to executive management
• Create and manage detailed project plans using MS Project or similar tools, including resource allocation and schedule distribution
• Lead and mentor a team of multi-disciplinary engineers within a cross-functional environment
• Support product design and development involving machined components, sheet metal, fabricated weldments, and large assemblies, ensuring clear dimensional schemes that capture engineering intent
• Design, develop, and execute testing procedures for off-road heavy equipment
• Manage multi-tiered Bills of Material (BOMs) and support integration with organizational ERP systems
• Lead root cause analysis efforts, including interpretation of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics
• Support quality initiatives such as DFMEA, PPAP, VAVE, and 6S
• Interface with vendors and conduct site visits to support quality audits as required
• Support Request for Quote (RFQ) processes as needed
• Interpret customer contracts and assess impacts to engineering scope, timelines, and cost
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting technical growth and professional development
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop practical solutions

What We Are Looking For



• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to design efficient workflows and procedures
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop practical solutions
• Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in design, testing, and documentation
• Effective communicator across oral, written, and digital platforms, maintaining professionalism and clarity
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to incorporate feedback into continuous improvement efforts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Advanced 3D solid modeling experience (SolidWorks, Inventor, CREO) and experience with data management systems such as Teamcenter, Fusion 360, or Windchill
• Strong technical expertise in heavy equipment and mechanical systems, including industry regulations and safety standards
• Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies, including testing experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Familiarity with SAE / ISO specifications for off-road or heavy equipment


Required Education



• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Engineering degree with emphasis in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
• Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license


Required Experience



• 7–10 years of progressive engineering experience
• Must be eligible and able to travel to the United States occasionally for business purposes.


Preferred Education And Experience



• MBA
• Experience supporting full-machine product development in material handling, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or similar heavy equipment industries
• PMP or CAPM (PMI) certification
