Position Summary


Under the direction of the Director of Service Delivery, the Lead Service Coordinator provides leadership and supervision to the New Beginnings Team. This role ensures services are delivered in a flexible, compassionate, and responsible manner using the Intensive Case Management model and Housing First philosophy. The Coordinator works closely with End Homelessness Winnipeg partners, landlords, community agencies, and program staff to support participants in achieving stability, recovery, and community integration.


Key Responsibilities


 



  • Supervise and support the New Beginnings teams; coordinate program activities and meetings.

  • Serve as primary liaison for the Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) projects and external partners, including Doorways, CAN workers, landlords, and housing networks.

  • Provide culturally appropriate intake, case management, and referrals; collaborate with staff to develop and implement participant service plans.

  • Support participants through housing transitions (intake, move-ins, inspections, transportation coordination, and stability supports).

  • Facilitate or co-lead group workshops on life skills and wellness topics.

  • Oversee the use of case management tools and systems (e.g., VI-SPDAT, SPDAT, HIFIS).

  • Maintain accurate records, compile reports, and ensure compliance with program standards.

  • Represent the organization professionally, foster positive partnerships, and contribute to a supportive workplace culture.

  • Participate in staff supervision, performance reviews, training, and professional development.

  • Other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications


Education & Experience



  • Post-secondary education in Social Services or related field; a combination of education and a minimum of three (3) years of senior management experience may be considered.



  • Demonstrated knowledge of Housing First, Intensive Case Management, and harm reduction.

  • Experience working with individuals impacted by Child Welfare, Criminal Justice, trauma, and marginalization.

  • Knowledge of Winnipeg resources in mental health, addictions, housing, child welfare, and Indigenous culture.

  • Experience working effectively with First Nations individuals, communities, and traditional knowledge systems.


Skills & Abilities



  • Strong leadership, supervision, and team-building abilities.

  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills.

  • Skilled in relationship-building, networking, and working with cultural sensitivity and diplomacy.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).



Other Requirements



  • Knowledge of First Nations culture; fluency in a First Nations language is an asset.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, travel as required, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
