Lerners is seeking a Legal Assistant to support Mark McAuley in our Business Law team in London, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have over two (2) years of experience working in a similar position. This is a Hybrid position and requires a minimum of three (3) days per week in office.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct conflict searches and effectively manage opening files and closing files.
- Maintain detailed and organized file systems for large volumes of documents (both paper and electronic).
- Draft and manage client correspondence, including initial client communications and reporting letters.
- Prepare and organize retainer and privacy documentation.
- Assist with billing processes, including account preparation, processing receipts, paying invoices, and collection of accounts receivables.
- Maintain an effective bring-forward system, including tracking filing deadlines, transaction timelines, and managing lawyers’ calendars.
- Conduct minute book reviews and assist with updating corporate records.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience in a legal or administrative role, with a focus in Business Law.
- Knowledge of corporate matters including Ontario incorporations, organization of new corporations, amalgamations, dissolutions, asset purchase/sale transactions and reorganizations would be an asset in this position.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to handle sensitive or challenging conversations with professionalism.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to take initiative while keeping supervising lawyer appropriately informed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with or willingness to learn new tools, systems and processes (e.g. Kofax PDF, Kofax Create Assistant, Planner, etc.) an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, professional attitude.

Salary
Target Hiring Range: $47,595 - $56,300
Commensurate with skill level, years of experience, and aligned with internal and market equity.
