Job Title: Legal Counsel

Position Summary
The Legal Counsel, reporting to the Director, Investigations, offers consultation, guidance and advice to the Investigations team and Investigation Committee on investigations and monitoring matters. This involves preparing necessary legal analyses and opinions, presenting reports to the leadership team and the Investigation Committee. Additionally, the Legal Counsel conducts thorough research, provides legal advice on dispositions and sanctions, and drafts decisions and orders. The Legal Counsel acts as counsel for the College in Health Professions Review Board applications and on discipline matters before the Health Professions Discipline Tribunal. Overall, the Legal Counsel fulfills a multifaceted role, undertaking various responsibilities to uphold legal standards and ensure regulatory compliance within the organization.
It is essential for all College staff to contribute to a team approach with a public protection focus, delivering efficient services that align with and allow the College to meet its regulatory, strategic, and operational goals.

About This Employment Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team and support the CCHPBC’s regulatory and public protection mandate. In this role, you will provide legal advice and guidance on complex investigations matters. You will also be responsible for preparing submissions and acting as counsel in Health Professions Review Board applications and on discipline matters before the Health Professions Discipline Tribunal.
This opportunity offers a dynamic role where you will work closely with the Investigation Committee, delivering legal analysis, drafting decisions, and helping shape CCHPBC’s regulatory processes. Compensation and Perks
The compensation for this position ranges from $129,608 to $145,000 annually, based on a 37.5-hour work week. The starting salary will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, the salaries of peers within the same range, market conditions, and other relevant considerations.
