Job Description - Legal Counsel

Legal Counsel - One year contract


Responsibilities:


The in-house legal office is looking for a litigator with approximately 3 - 8 years of experience to fill a 12 month contract position.  The successful applicant will prosecute discipline and incapacity cases and will conduct appeals and applications for judicial review. â€¯â€¯Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will be joining a department of approximately 12 lawyers who work in-office a minimum of 3 days per week, and daily during hearings.


 Qualifications:



  • 3 – 8 years experience in litigation doing trials or hearings

  • Administrative law experience is an asset.

  • A desire to prosecute cases is essential.

  • LLB or JD degree, and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

  • A collegial team player, detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and provide sound legal advice to senior management and staff at all levels of the organization.


Additional Information 


• It is a fundamental requirement of employment at CPSO that employees reside in Ontario and can attend the College office as required.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required (minimum two doses).
• Hybrid, remote work with in-office attendance three days per week and/or more as needed.

Starting Salary: $168,968
