Reporting directly to the Shop Service Manager, the light duty mechanic is responsible to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of internal and external equipment. The incumbent will troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components.
The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of CILTD, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.
Shift Availability: Monday - Friday 8 hours
This is not a camp setting. We operate in our shop location and field services throughout Fort McMurray with our service trucks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, failure analysis, parts inspections, diagnostic analysis, component change outs on a variety of off road, on road and stationery (static) equipment;
Ensure repairs and maintenance are being completed in a safe, cost and time effective manner and as per manufacturers specifications if applicable;
Execute maintenance services and repairs as scheduled by the CEO, VP or Service Supervisor within suggested timelines and estimated completion dates;
Maintain maintenance reports and documentation on a daily basis from service order to service order;
Report all incidents, damage and near-misses immediately; and,
Other relatable duties as required.
Qualifications
Grade twelve (12) Diploma or General Educational Diploma ‘GED’ equivalency is required;
Must have an active journeyman certificate.
Willing and able to participate in end user D&A requirements;
Minimum two (2) years experience on light duty vehicle repair
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License, along with a clean three (3) year driver’s abstract is required;
Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities;
Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner;
Proven understanding of safe work practices and mitigating risk, participate in Job Hazard analysis from project to project;
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize job responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment;
General knowledge of computer applications; and,
Must have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
