Are you passionate about public safety, compliance, and community well-being? As a uniformed Liquor Establishment Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, responsible sale and distribution of alcohol and cannabis across the province. This is a dynamic, field-based position that combines investigation, inspection, education, and enforcement- no two days are the same. This role offers a strong balance of independent work and teamwork in a results-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Inspect, evaluate, and make licensing recommendations for liquor and cannabis establishments

  • Investigate complaints and and/or potential contraventions of the Liquor Control Act, Liquor Licensing Regulations, Smoke Free Environment Act 2005, Cannabis Control Act, Cannabis Licensing and Operations Regulations and Cannabis Control Regulations

  • Enforce compliance and apply appropriate sanctions when required

  • Provide expert guidance and practical advice to licensees and staff on regulatory responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with licensees, the public, the Office of the Fire Commissioner, and law enforcement (RNC/RCMP)

  • Administer, regulate, and ensure understanding and compliance of the Liquor Control Act, Liquor Licensing Regulations, Smoke Free Environment Act 2005, Cannabis Control Act, Cannabis Licensing and Operations Regulations and Cannabis Control Regulations by all liquor and cannabis license holders in the province through scheduled and demand inspections of establishments

  • Contribute to the development of policies and Statements of Practice (SOPs)

  • Prepare cases, witnesses, and disclosure packages, and present evidence at hearings, trials, and inquiries


Qualifications:


We’re looking for motivated professionals who thrive in investigative and regulatory roles. The ideal candidate will have:



  • Graduation from an accredited post-secondary institution

  • Preference given to Law Enforcement, Criminology, Police Studies, Law, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or Public Health

  • Experience in law enforcement or regulatory compliance, particularly inspections and investigations

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, including liquor, cannabis, and smoke-free environment regulations

  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team

  • Physical capability to meet the demands of the role (testing may be required)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (testing may be required)

  • The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is highly motivated, possessing excellent problem-solving abilities, interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and is able to work independently and as a member of a results-oriented team. The candidate will complete inspections, throughout the year, on licensed liquor and cannabis locations to ensure compliance with legislation.

Salary:                    CG33: $57,093.40-$63,499.80 annually
