Litigation Paralegal / Legal Assistant

Our client, a well-established and highly regarded law firm in British Columbia's Interior, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join its busy litigation team. 

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who enjoys managing litigation files from inception through trial and thrives in a collaborative, team-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents


• Coordinate examinations for discovery, applications, mediations, court appearances, and trials


• Maintain litigation calendars and monitor critical deadlines


• Prepare accounts, billing documents, and invoices


• Manage file organization and bring-forward systems


• Communicate regularly with clients, counsel, experts, and court registries


• Review, organize, and maintain medical and litigation records


• Support lawyers throughout all stages of the litigation process


• Schedule meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements as required


• Maintain and update litigation precedents and templates


• Assist with trial preparation and provide hands-on support leading up to hearings and trials


• Mentor and provide guidance to junior support staff


• Conduct legal and procedural research as required


• Perform additional administrative and litigation support duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive litigation experience in a law firm environment


• Completion of a Paralegal or Legal Administrative Assistant program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience


• Strong knowledge of British Columbia court rules, procedures, and filing requirements


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities


• Ability to effectively prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced practice


• Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Experience with trial preparation and document management is considered an asset

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary starting at $60,000 or higher for candidates with extensive litigation experience or a Paralegal designation

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Kamloops, British Columbia.
