Looking to build a career in agricultural finance while making a real impact in Alberta’s farming community? FarmCash, a division of Alberta Grains, is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Loan Associate to join our Calgary office.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in an organized, fast-paced environment, and wants to be part of a team that directly supports Alberta producers. As a Loan Associate, you’ll play a key role behind the scenes—supporting loan processing, working closely with producers, and providing access to essential operational financing that makes a difference in agricultural communities across Western Canada.
Job Type: full-time permanent, 40 hours per week, onsite at the Alberta Grains office.
Key Responsibilities:
Producer Support & Communication
Communicate professionally with producers by phone and email to provide updates, answer questions, and support the loan application process.
Follow up with producers to obtain missing or incomplete documentation and help keep files moving forward.
Loan File & Documentation Management
Collect, verify, and organize documentation required for loan adjudication.
Maintain accurate and well-organized loan files in accordance with program policies and procedures.
Track loan activity and ensure records are complete and up to date.
Operational & Team Support
Assist Loan Officers with application reviews and preparation of recommendations, providing informed input as required.
Support compliance with internal policies and program requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement of lending and documentation processes.
Outreach & Events
Represent FarmCash at tradeshows and events to engage producers, share program information, and support lead generation.
Participate in occasional travel for outreach activities or meetings.
Qualifications:
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on supporting producers.
Diploma or degree in finance, banking, or a related field preferred.
Experience in banking, lending, or financial services is an asset.
Agricultural lending experience is a strong advantage.
Comfortable engaging producers in person, over the phone, and through email.
Marketing or event experience is an asset; confident representing the company publicly.
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with loan management software is a plus.
Basic understanding of credit and lending principles to effectively support loan officers.
What We Offer:
Competitive salary: $47,300–$53,000 (based on experience)
Vacation: 3 weeks annually (increasing to 4 weeks after 4 years)
Personal days: 6 paid per year
