Maintenance Electrician/4 Class Power Engineer

The opportunity

Under the responsibility of the Maintenance Manager, theis responsible for performing repairs and conducting preventative maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems. It also includes adjusting and maintaining new and existing production equipment, ensuring the function of all production lines, and being responsible for the safe operation of plant refrigeration systems.

Main responsibilities

• Troubleshoot breakdowns, identify causes, and make necessary repairs
• Test repaired equipment or components
• Ensure proper operation of equipment after an intervention
• Complete work orders and carry out necessary follow-up work
• Clean and lubricate pumps, compressors, and other equipment
• Carry out the mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic inspection of equipment
• Participate in the improvement of the preventive maintenance program for equipment
• Read drawings and diagrams to determine how to proceed
• Install, align, disassemble, and move stationary industrial machinery or mechanical equipment (pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, etc.)
• Responsible for safe operation plant refrigeration systems
• Responsible for maintaining plant refrigeration system logbooks
• Work with contractors as needed
• Comply with OHS policies and procedures, good manufacturing practices, and HACCP
• Perform other related duties

Skills and abilities

• Requires at least 3 years of experience in a similar position
• Red Seal Industrial Electrician Certification
• 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Qualification
• Strong knowledge of electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics
• Automation and PLC experience is an asset
• Welding skills (TIG, MIG and stainless steel) is an asset
• Ability to work in tight spaces, above ceilings, on ladders, on scaffolding, and on aerial work platforms
• Mastery of spoken and written English
• Knowledge of HACCP standards is an asset
• Possess a sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure
• Possess a safety consciousness
• Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot
• Sense of organization and priority management
• Teamwork oriented
• Meticulous, detail-oriented, and careful to double-check
• Adaptability
