Essential to keeping everything running smoothly, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair activities across residential and multi-unit properties. This role will support the safe, clean, and functional operation of our buildings in addition to improving our properties and facilities as well.
Every day will be a little different and you’ll work across our multiple locations in Kelowna. You will use your variety of repair and maintenance expertise and skills to ensure all work is completed with quality, care, and attention. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a problem solving mentality. The maintenance technician also collaborates closely with internal teams, contractors, and leadership, while upholding organizational values, policies, and safety standards.

Maintenance & Repairs
Perform general carpentry (rough and finish), painting, drywall repairs, and minor renovations
Complete routine maintenance such as replacing fixtures, repairing locks, and patching walls
Conduct minor plumbing, electrical, and appliance repairs
Install and maintain equipment and appliances
Troubleshoot issues through inspection of control panels, wiring, and systems
Facilities & Grounds
Maintain buildings and equipment in a clean, safe, and functional condition
Perform outdoor upkeep including yard maintenance and waste removal
Support move-in/move-out inspections and periodic facility inspections
Operations & Coordination
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and internal departments on maintenance activities
Assist with inventory tracking, materials ordering, and supply management
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance requests, and completed work
Report major repairs, damage, or safety concerns to management promptly
Health, Safety & Compliance
Follow WorkSafeBC guidelines and organizational health and safety procedures
Respond to urgent maintenance and safety issues
Follow hazardous materials protocols and maintain a safe working environment
Team & Organizational Support
Collaborate with internal teams and assist janitorial activities as required
Contribute to operational excellence through professionalism and teamwork
Support broader organizational initiatives and other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
3–5 years of maintenance or building operations experience or relevant education/experience
Technical Skills & Certifications
Knowledge of general building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively
Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Previous and recent experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and are able and willing to learn and use other JHSOK computer platforms
Valid WHMIS certification (or the ability to obtain one)
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record
Valid Emergency/Basic First Aid (First Aid with CPR-A & AED) certification
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector)
