Maintenance Technician

Job Description - Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities include:



  • Create and complete work orders and ensure work orders are closed in accordance with current policies and procedures.

  • Work independently as well as assisting other maintenance staff and contractors in the maintenance and repair of the facility.

  • Assist in planning and the completion of all maintenance activities; prioritize and manage backlog by optimizing resources (labour/time/contractors).

  • Attend and participate in weekly maintenance meetings.

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of crucial spare parts and supplies.



  • Fulfill all Health and Safety, food safety, HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS and BRC policy requirements.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications of facilities.



  • Periodic quality checks on equipment and systems during production to ensure compliance and up to standards.

  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocols.


Other responsibilities as required by management.


 


Working Conditions:



  • Shift schedule is Monday – Friday, 5am- 1:30pm. Hours may vary based on business needs.

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and in damp wet conditions.

  • Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.).

  • Physical requirements: bending, kneeling, reaching, standing for extended periods of time, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying boxes, tools and equipment.

  • Ability to work at heights.


 


Requirements:



  • Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in a Millwright role preferred.

  • A technical diploma/ticket is preferred.

  • Valid Operator-In-Training (OIT) Certificate - Waste Treatment would be an asset.

  • Successful candidates must be willing to obtain a Waste Water OIT Certificate.



  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.

  • A valid Ontario class G driver’s license

  • Must be prepared to respond to emergency situations and able to work the hours necessary to ensure the effective operation of the plant.

  • Welding experience is an asset.


Work Location:



  • 4272 Concession 4 Road North, Amherstburg (Not on Bus Route)

  • Occasional visits to our Windsor location may be required.
