This role requires full-time on-site presence.


This position is in the Radio Systems Support (RSS) team.


Role


Provide on-site technical support for production and broadcast server systems, including both hardware and software, to ensure their functionality, reliability and maintenance. Perform all duties associated with maintaining production and broadcasting equipment.


Description of Duties

  • Ensure, in tandem with server management technicians, the proper functioning of server systems and other associated peripheral systems, based on production and maintenance needs.
  • Continuously monitor, before and during production, the status of production server systems and other associated systems; detect and correct malfunctions, documenting and reporting them as needed.
  • Help develop and apply maintenance procedures.
  • Provide advice and guidance to server-management, maintenance and production technicians.
  • Identify and determine temporary system limitations; inform the production team and follow up as needed.
  • Troubleshoot system outages with multiple departments to ensure that the necessary corrective action is taken, and inform the relevant people.
  • Co-ordinate and review the work of technicians while actively assisting and advising them.
  • In emergencies, contact the Corporation’s approved vendors to obtain the servicing needed to bring servers or other equipment back online; ensure that services rendered and equipment ordered meet the requirements of the initial agreement.
  • Perform software and hardware upgrades on production and broadcast servers as well as associated peripheral systems.
  • Play an active role in implementing, modifying and reconfiguring systems.
  • Guide and train maintenance technicians of all levels in the performance of their duties.
  • Perform all duties associated with maintaining production and broadcast equipment.
  • Update your skills so that you can perform your assigned duties and keep abreast of technological developments.
  • Complete the appropriate forms and documents; share information verbally or in writing to ensure proper follow-up and to keep others informed.
  • Familiarize other employees with their duties and work environment.
  • If necessary, carry out all or part of the duties of another job classification within an equivalent or lower salary group, as well as other related duties.

Job Requirements


Education or equivalent knowledge:


College diploma (DCS) in electronics technology (audiovisual, telecommunications or computer systems option) or other relevant field.


Experience:


Five years’ experience required to perform duties satisfactorily. Experience coordinating a work team.
