SALARY SCALE : $125,110 to $151,661 annually

What would my role be?


Reporting to the Director, Facilities Management, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the Central Heating Plant of the Saint-Vincent Hospital and Élisabeth-Bruyère Hospital and supports the Facility Manager at Saint-Louis Long-term Care in operating and maintaining steam distribution, heating and ventilation systems supplying hospital buildings. You will also:



  • Be responsible for the safe, efficient operation of Combined Heat and Power Generator (Co-Gen) and heat recovery systems at the Saint-Vincent Hospital (unique and complex technology)

  • Use the building automated system (BAS) and keep it updated to control and monitor all building systems and utilities.

  • Utilize the BAS to generate reports for various departments and authorities for the purpose of validating financial and environmental efficiencies in operating the Co-gen.

  • Act in the capacity of the of Fire Safety Officer assisting in the development, implementation and management of an effective fire preventive program.

  • Be the primary liaison with authorities having jurisdiction for life safety systems, fire panel and all devises, including support and maintenance contractors.

  • Manage, supervise and coordinate the daily activities of both maintenance and operating engineers.

  • Schedule shifts and boiler operation.

  • Oversee programs for new requirements and major maintenance projects.

  • Ensure that safety regulations are met, and an efficient operation is maintained.

  • Evaluate and confirm the work of the shift and maintenance engineers ensuring compliance with relevant standards as governed by the Technical Standards and Safety Act (2000)), Ontario Regulation 219/01 Operating Engineers.

  • Be required to be available to support staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in case of emergency or building system and equipment failure.


 


How do I qualify?


Required:



  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or five (5) years of training and Steam Plant Operation.

  • Valid 2nd Class Ontario Operating Engineer Certificate (Stationary Engineer).

  • Technical knowledge of plant operation, physics, chemistry, electricity, plumbing, pipe fitting, A/C, gas equipment, and Cogeneration 


Preferred:



  • Knowledge of Bruyère Health organizational structure.

  • Fluent in French and English

  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Building Automation Systems, CMMS systems and AutoCAD.
