JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Remote Inspections & Maintenance.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Remote Conventional Inspections, this position is responsible for the management, planning and oversight of Remote Inspections & Maintenance Campaigns for Nuclear sites within the Durham Region and Renewable Generation sites across Ontario.

This role will oversee Inspection & Maintenance teams in Dive Operations, Rope Access & NDE Inspections, Arial Inspections (Drone Operations) and Remote Inspections Engineering.  A key focus of this position is moving from reactive “break-fix” work toward a structured maintenance strategy and campaign-based execution, ensuring all planning, readiness, and resourcing are complete before field teams mobilize.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Provide leadership and oversight to field execution teams, including Divers, Rope Access, NDE Inspection personnel, Drone Operations, and Remote Inspections Engineering.

    • Establish clear, effective working relationships and ensure seamless integration of outputs across teams.

    • Communicate organizational goals and direction that guide work programs and functional delivery.

    • Lead, coach, and develop a supportive, high-performance team culture that promotes accountability and self-management.

    • Provide meaningful input to the business plan and the development of departmental work programs, priorities, and deliverables.

    • Lead remote inspections and maintenance campaigns end-to-end, including planning, readiness reviews, execution oversight, and close-out.

    • Build and implement a maintenance strategy that improves reliability, readiness, and long-range planning.

    • Ensure scope, documentation, work methods, risk controls, and resources are complete and ready prior to field mobilization.

    • Support First Line Managers with field execution planning and coordination, including scheduling, logistics, work sequencing, and constraint management for both planned and emergent work.

    • Manage and balance resources across multiple concurrent campaigns and clients, including seasonal/peak planning requirements.

    • Ensure strong field governance and compliance, including safe work planning, permits, and execution standards across specialized operations.

    • Ensure regulatory and site compliance across Nuclear and Renewable Generation environments.

    • Oversee maintenance fundamentals and work control discipline, ensuring readiness elements—such as pre-job briefs, lift planning, and hazard controls—are completed to the required standard.

    • Drive continuous improvement by strengthening planning and execution processes and adapting to organizational changes.

    • Identify resource requirements, optimize performance, and ensure activities are delivered within budget and at minimum practical cost.

    • Ensure management systems meet due diligence requirements and are effectively maintained and governed on an ongoing basis.

    • Maintain OPG and nuclear governing documents (policies, standards, procedures) in compliance with regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education: College or University degree in Business Administration or related technical discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

    • Leadership experience (minimum): 3+ years of direct people leadership experience (supervision/management), including:

    • performance management and coaching

    • work assignment and prioritization

    • workforce planning (staffing, scheduling, contractor oversight)

    • accountability for safety, quality, and deliverables

    • Field operations experience (minimum): 7+ years experience in maintenance and/or inspection field operations within industrial/regulated environments (e.g., nuclear, utilities, mining, construction, marine, manufacturing).

    • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary field teams (e.g., inspection/NDE, access methods, engineering support).

    • Planning & execution (minimum): Proven experience planning and delivering projects end-to-end, including:

    • scope definition and work packaging

    • readiness reviews / gates

    • scheduling, logistics, work sequencing, and constraint management

    • execution oversight and close-out (including lessons learned)

    • Governance, safety, and compliance (minimum)

    • Strong working knowledge of work management/work control discipline (permits, hazard controls, pre-job briefs, lift planning, field execution standards).

    • Demonstrated safety leadership in field settings; ability to operate within strict compliance expectations

    • Core skills (minimum): Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (able to align teams and present clear readiness, risks, and “asks” to senior leaders).

    • Solid planning/organization skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and deliver within budget/resource constraints.

    • The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods. Maintaining a high-performance culture and excellence is a core expectation of every member of our leadership team and is rewarded through the established compensation framework.

OPG is committed to employment equity. As such, we encourage applicants from equity-seeking communities (Indigenous Peoples, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and women). We strongly believe that alleviating the under-representation of equity-seeking individuals will create a stronger OPG team and allow us to better serve the needs of our diverse communities.

In order to fulfill the above-mentioned purpose, priority in hiring may be given to qualified persons who self-identify as a member of equity-seeking groups as identified in the application process. This initiative constitutes a special program under the Human Rights Code/Canadian Human Rights Act.
