Job Title: Manager of Communications
Location: Corner Brook, NL
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Job Description: The Manager of Communications will lead the development and execution of internal and external communications for Qalipu First Nation (QFN). This strategic role involves advising senior administration, Chief, and Council on sensitive communications matters, ensuring all messaging aligns with QFN’s values, mission, and strategic priorities. The Manager will foster transparency, cultural sensitivity, and meaningful engagement with both community members and external stakeholders.
As a member of the management team, the Manager will collaborate closely with leadership to secure appropriate approvals and ensure communications initiatives are effectively implemented.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Indigenous Studies, or a related field. Equivalent experience and training will be considered.
Experience: Minimum of two years in a communications-related role, preferably within a similar organizational or community-focused setting.
Working Conditions: This role is primarily office based. However, from time to time, the Manager will be expected to attend events outside of the office on behalf of Qalipu First Nation. Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends where needed. Some travel and overtime may be required.
The successful applicant must possess a valid drivers license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
Full-time Employee Benefits:
Annual Leave: FT employees - Three weeks per year.
Statutory and Non-Statutory Holidays: Employees are entitled to 13 days off to cover Statutory and Non-statutory holidays per year.
Summer Office Hours: Office hours during the summer months are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The schedule starts the later part of April and continues until the last week of September.
Christmas Break: the office closes down during the Christmas break; this is an added bonus that employees are entitled to.
FT Employee Benefits: Option to enroll in C of C – Employee Benefits Plan.
Registered Pension Plan: QFN has a pension plan, FT employees contribute from 4 to 7%, employee contributions are matched by the Band.
FT Sick and Family Medical: Full Time Employees are entitled to 12 paid sick and family medical days per year.
Under 2 hours Medical Appointment: Employees may attend an appointment of less than 2 hours with no deductions to Sick and Family Medical.
Discretionary Bereavement: One day off per year for the death of a relative not included as immediate family, a close friend or neighbor.
Volunteer Program: Employees may volunteer outside of the organization up to 21 hours.
