Manager of Estimating (Services / Mining / Underground) - Canada

We are seeking a Manager of Estimating to lead the estimating function within the organization. This individual will oversee the preparation of cost estimates, proposals, and tender submissions while ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with business objectives. The role involves mentoring a team, working cross-functionally with technical and operational groups, and ensuring the company’s estimating practices remain efficient and innovative.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the estimating team.
  

• Build resource strategies to meet ongoing business needs.
  

• Manage the proposal and tendering process from start to finish, ensuring compliance with client requirements and internal deadlines.
  

• Review project drawings, specifications, and contractual documentation to identify scope and commercial risks.
  

• Develop cost estimates, schedules, and proposals from first principles.
  

• Collaborate with engineering teams, vendors, and suppliers to source accurate pricing for materials and equipment.
  

• Ensure bids are competitive and aligned with company profitability targets.
  

• Propose alternative contractual models to optimize value for both client and company.
  

• Stay current with market rates for labor, materials, and equipment.
  

Requirements

• Degree/diploma in
  Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  
• 5+ years’ experience in
  estimating or proposal management in mining 
  
• Strong financial and
  analytical skills with attention to detail.
  
• Proficiency with MS Office;
  knowledge of ERP/CRM systems is a plus
  
• Excellent leadership,
  communication, and organizational skills.
  
• Ability to thrive under
  deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
