Job Description - Manager, Product Control

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Join RBC's Corporate Treasury Product Control team as a Manager supporting Asset Liability Management (ALM). This role uniquely blends financial expertise with advanced data skills. You'll own P&L reporting and reconciliations for the ALM business, ensuring accuracy across weekly and monthly reporting cycles. You'll work with large datasets (millions of rows) using SQL and advanced analytics—making you part data engineer, part financial analyst.

What will you do?

  • Produce and validate weekly and monthly P&L reports and month-end reconciliations
  • Investigate variances and discrepancies—when P&L doesn't make sense, you'll dig into the data to find why
  • Write SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets from core banking systems (loans, mortgages, deposits)
  • Build Excel-based reporting and dashboards from SQL-sourced data
  • Conduct reconciliations to tie figures back to systems of record and General Ledger
  • Collaborate with Finance, business, risk, and IT teams to enhance controls and improve processes
  • Address client queries on trade booking, P&L, spreads, and reporting issues
  • Document processes and identify opportunities to streamline reconciliations and improve productivity

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 2+ years in Capital Markets, trading desk support, or product control
  • Strong SQL skills—comfortable writing queries to navigate and extract data from large databases
  • Proficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data modeling)
  • Knowledge of fixed income products (bonds, swaps, money markets)
  • Experience working with large datasets and performing reconciliations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Understanding of core banking systems (loans, deposits, General Ledger)

 Nice-to-have:

  • CFA, CPA, or accounting designation (in progress or completed)
  • Experience building financial models
  • Background in trading system migration or change management

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
  • A world-class training program in financial services
  • Flexible work/life balance options
  • Opportunities to do challenging work
