Reports to:  Director of Professional Practice for Quality Improvement and Collaborative Academic Practice 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week 

Status: Permanent Full-Time

Position summary

Reporting to the Director of Professional Practice (DPP) for, Manager of Quality Improvement Scholarship and Innovation, a member of the UHN Collaborative Academic Practice (CAP) portfolio, is accountable for academic clinical practice in alignment to UHN’s Purpose, Values and Principles and is key in aligning work within and across clinical programs, sites and organizational practice priorities. The partners with the DPP to develop and implement provisions of care, organization-wide healthcare delivery models which advances University Health Network’s (UHN)‘s foundational value of Patient-Centred Care and its mission of providing exemplary safe patient care and fostering excellence in healthcare delivery, research and teaching.

Duties

  • Leading interprofessional quality improvement and scholarship initiatives aligned with UHN’s strategic plan and broader health system priorities
  • Driving change that advances UHN’s commitment to high-quality, equitable, and innovative care
  • Advancing system-wide quality priorities and mentoring fellows through the CAP TAHSNp Fellowship Program
  • Providing mentorship and coaching to staff and learners, both internal and external to UHN, to build QI capability and support cross-sector collaboration
  • Offering QI consultation and subject matter expertise to healthcare professionals and clinical teams across programs and practice settings
  • Designing, delivering, and evaluating QI curricula for learners, staff, and fellows
  • Supporting scholarship through guidance on academic publications, proposal development, and grant writing in support of interprofessional research
  • Building capacity among staff and teams to embed QI into clinical service delivery
  • Supporting the development of a learning health system by aligning clinical innovation with organizational goals
  • Partnering with external stakeholders, including academic institutions, government bodies, community organizations, and other TAHSN hospitals, to strengthen collaborative improvement efforts
  • Engaging with programmatic donors and the UHN Foundation to align funding with CAP Fellowship outcomes and innovation goals

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Engineering, or other regulated health profession
  • Registered and in good standing with a regulated health professional college
  • CQUIPS or equivalent QI certification – preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
  • 5–8 years of clinical experience in acute or post-acute care
  • 3–5 years experience in a leadership role
  • Eligible for cross-appointment with UHN-affiliated academic institutions
  • Demonstrated experience quality improvement and leading major change initiatives in a healthcare environment
  • Expert in data analysis and visualization; ability to utilize data analytic QI skills (e.g. experience with run and control charts and pareto diagrams) and proficiency in digital tools and software
  • Strong understanding of knowledge translation and implementation science methodology
  • Strong knowledge of professional standards, ethics, health care consent, and regulatory legislation
  • Understanding of hospital operations, health system structures, and related policies
  • Experience developing and implementing practice standards and quality controls
  • Strategic, analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong communicator and effective collaborator across diverse teams and disciplines
  • Adaptable, culturally competent, and responsive to change
  • Skilled in managing competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Able to apply research to practice and support evidence-informed improvements
  • Experience with presentations and publications
