Ankura is a team of excellence founded on innovation and growth.

Practice Overview:

At Ankura, our team of advisory professionals builds partnerships with clients to advise, manage, and execute strategic capital investments to effectively mitigate the risks inherent in the planning, design, construction, activation, and financing of capital projects. We have a long history of advising through all phases of complex projects to ensure clients deliver on their objectives. Our services include a comprehensive range of planning, strategic, facility, real estate, and capital solutions that are focused on helping our clients maximize the construction and delivery, operational, and financial performance of their real estate portfolios and capital investments.

Role Overview:

The Managing Director will support Construction Disputes & Advisory, one of six business groups focused on client delivery services across the Firm. You will partner with Canadian leadership to shape the strategic direction of our Canada practice, leveraging Ankura’s global platform to cultivate high-value relationships and lead complex technical mandates.

Value Proposition: Join a globally recognized practice defined by technical eminence and a collaborative, non-siloed culture. This is an opportunity to work alongside some of the world’s top construction experts while leading the expansion of our Canadian presence. You will have the opportunity to build and monetize your reputation as a trusted advisor to top-tier counsel and owners, without the bureaucracy or internal competition.

Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Stewardship & Growth: Cultivate long-term relationships with new and existing clients by serving as a trusted technical advisor. Leverage your reputation in the Canadian market to identify strategic opportunities and expand the firm's footprint through consultative engagement.

  • Technical Eminence (Claims & Delay): Lead sophisticated analyses of project schedule delays, cost overruns, and productivity issues. Serve as the primary technical expert on high-profile disputes, providing independent, defensible professional opinions on cause-and-effect relationships.

  • Engagement Leadership: Define strategy and oversee the execution of complex consulting engagements. Ensure the delivery of high-quality work products that reconcile claim amounts and withstand rigorous scrutiny.

  • Talent Development: Mentor and develop a high-performing team of analysts and associates. Champion a culture of collaboration, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring the next generation of experts is nurtured within the practice.

  • Thought Leadership: Enhance Ankura’s brand by taking a leadership role in industry organizations and contributing to white papers or conferences, positioning yourself and the firm as market authorities.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field; Advanced degree or professional certifications (P.Eng, PMP, PE) preferred.

  • Experience: 10+ years of disputes/claims consulting experience in the construction and engineering industries.

  • Expertise: Recognized proficiency in delay analysis and forensic scheduling is required. Must possess advanced skills in Primavera P6 and experience developing or analyzing schedule delay models.

  • Market Reputation: A demonstrated track record of originating work through professional networks and high-quality delivery. You should possess an established presence in the Toronto legal/construction community.

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to distill complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, including legal counsel and triers of fact.
