The Grande Lagoon (formerly Lagoon City Marina) is a newly revitalized full-service marina under new ownership and management. Located on the scenic east shore of Lake Simcoe in Brechin, Ontario, we are building a modern, service-oriented boating destination. As part of our growing team, we are seeking a skilled and dependable Marine Mechanic to help us deliver top-tier service to our customers and elevate the marina experience.



Job Description:


 


The Marine Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a variety of marine engines and mechanical systems. This includes both inboard and outboard engines, as well as boat systems and general mechanical troubleshooting.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on boats and marine engines

  • Perform regular maintenance such as oil changes, tune-ups, impeller changes, and fuel system service

  • Service and install propulsion systems, steering systems, bilge pumps, and electronics

  • Winterize and commission boats for seasonal transitions

  • Maintain detailed records of service work and inspections

  • Ensure safety standards and environmental protocols are followed at all times



Qualifications:



  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a marine or small engine mechanic

  • Strong working knowledge of outboard and inboard engines (e.g., Mercury, Yamaha, Volvo Penta)

  • Able to read and follow service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software

  • Must have own tools and a valid driver’s license

  • Marine Technician Certification is an asset but not mandatory

  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
