Job Description - Marine Service Supervisor

Are you an experienced marine professional with a deep yachting technical background and a passion for leading teams? Our valued client, Ignition Marine, is seeking a Marine Service Supervisor to lead the technical team at our new location. In this critical hands-on role, you will supervise technicians, execute quality control, enforce safety protocols, and coordinate daily work execution. You won't just assign tasks; you will provide hands-on technical guidance, solve complex mechanical challenges, and ensure that every vessel meets Ignition Marine’s world-class standards before delivery.

The broad scope of expertise extends to specialized offerings such as marine repowering, insurance claim repairs, professional skipper services, and canvas fabrication, all supported by a team of certified marine engineers and technicians focused on high-performance quality control.



WHAT YOU WILL DO:
You are the operational anchor on the shop floor. Your technical expertise and oversight ensure that jobs are done safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality.



  • Technical Leadership & Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and coach a team of up to 10 technicians throughout the workday. 

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact, providing hands-on troubleshooting for engines, electronics, and complex marine systems. 

  • Job Preparation & Execution: Conduct daily morning briefings to clarify the scope of work, responsibilities, and safety considerations. 

  • Quality Control (QC) & Compliance: Perform comprehensive initial inspections and enforce ongoing quality control using mobile forms, while adhering to and promoting ISO 9001:2015 accreditation standards. 

  • Documentation: Ensure all delivery checklists and post-service inspections are completed prior to vessel handover. 

  • Scheduling & Coordination: Assist with job scheduling, confirmations, and occasional job publishing. 

  • Logistics: Maintain close awareness of delivery dates, splashes, lifts, and sea trials, ensuring technicians are informed of any timeline changes. 

  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Monitor HSE compliance across all activities, identifying hazards, reporting risks, implementing safety procedures, and ensuring the absolute safety of staff and client vessels. 

  • Parts & Asset Management: Assess parts availability before starting large projects, immediately report missing or delayed parts, and maintain meticulous shop organization and tool control. 

  • Workplace Culture: Foster teamwork, professionalism, and accountability; promote a positive, "no-blame" work environment. 



THE EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES YOU BRING:
You are a proactive, solution-focused leader who earns the respect of your team because you understand the mechanical realities of the yachting industry. 



  • Non-Negotiable Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Lead or Senior Technician in the yachting industry (service operations) is mandatory; Solid understanding of the service level expectations required for luxury vessels. 

  • Technical Mastery: Solid mechanical knowledge and deep technical understanding of yacht marine systems, allowing you to confidently guide technicians through complex challenges. 

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are required to lead the team effectively, brief management, and document technical reports. 

  • Leadership EQ: Proven ability to supervise a team of 10+ staff with strong emotional.  intelligence; You remain calm under pressure, resolve issues collaboratively, and lead with a customer-first mindset. 

  • Digital Proficiency: Computer skills are essential. You must be comfortable working with service software scheduling systems, email (Outlook), and digital QC inspection platforms (FastField). 

  • Personal Resilience: Personally resilient, with the capacity to demonstrate a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
