Material Laboratory Technician

GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and in Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Material Laboratory Technician to join our Team. We currently have an opening for a Material Laboratory Technician in our Ottawa, ON office.

The successful candidate will have the following:

Educational & Experience Requirements:

• College level diploma is considered an asset.


• Experience with laboratory test procedures for asphalt is preferred but not necessary as training will be provided.


• Experience with laboratory test procedures for soil, concrete and aggregate considered an asset but not necessary as training will be provided.


• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.


• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.


• Strong multi-tasking, organization, and planning skills.


• Proficient with Microsoft Office.


• Maintain a clean working environment.


• Possess ability to lift 30-50lbs on a daily basis.

Main Duties:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

• Conduct various laboratory tests on soils and construction materials with a focus on rapid testing of asphalt concrete samples and reporting for production monitoring purposes.


• Record, maintain, and organize samples to be put into storage.


• Record test data and prepare factual reports, summaries, data sheets or graphs for interpretation of test results.


• Perform other related duties as required.


• Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.

Position:

• Full time.


• 37.5 hours/week with opportunity for overtime (during busy season).


• Must have a valid driver’s license.
