Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital serves a large and diverse community and supports more than 4,000 deliveries each year. Our well-established Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) clinic currently provides fetal assessment and surveillance for high-risk pregnancies within our hospital catchment area. This MFM clinic is a 2-room, Monday-Friday ultrasound unit supported by 2 full-time, dedicated, experienced sonographers and one full-time Maternal Fetal Medicine physician. We are seeking to expand this fetal assessment unit to 3 full-time rooms. We also have the opportunity to provide full obstetrical care for some of our higher-risk patients. The program also includes a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including an on-site Level 2C NICU, antenatal neonatal clinic, pediatric cardiology clinic, obstetric medicine clinic, and prenatal genetic services. This multidisciplinary team enables us to provide exemplary high-risk obstetrical care. We are seeking passionate professionals who share our commitment to high-quality, timely, patient-centred care. Position Overview

Mackenzie Health is currently recruiting an RCPSC-certified Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist for a 1.0 FTE opportunity to support the continued growth of our MFM program. The successful physician will participate in the departmental call roster, co-manage the busy MFM clinic and antepartum unit, and have access to state-of-the-art equipment across both hospital sites. The clinic operates Monday to Friday and provides timely access to amniocentesis and fetal echocardiography on-site to support diagnosis, consultation and management. The MFM Specialist will provide consultation services at Mackenzie Health in support of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Qualifications:

The Physician must possess the following competencies:

• Provide consultation for high-risk pregnancies, manage high-risk antenatal inpatient care, complete obstetrical ultrasound reporting (subject to delineation of privileges), perform amniocentesis and prenatal diagnosis, and demonstrate competence in operative obstetrics, including caesarean delivery.
• Manage complex pregnancies, including maternal medical conditions, fetal anomalies, growth restriction, multifetal gestations, preeclampsia and other pregnancy-related complications.
• Comply with the call schedule established by the Chief of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
• Be available for consultation with professional colleagues during inpatient days
• Participate in quality improvement projects within the department.
• Participate in staff and departmental meetings.
• Maintain clinical acumen and skills within scope of practice.
• Demonstrate excellence in clinical care.
• Abide by the Professional Staff By-Law and Professional Staff Rules of the Hospital, the Public Hospitals Act and all other applicable legislation.
• Demonstrate understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to patient safety responsibilities, including applicable program plans, policies and procedures that support a safe environment for patients, families, staff and professional staff.

Education – Certification – Licenses

• Medical degree approved by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) required.
• Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology as recognized by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent as recognized by the Provincial Licensing Body required.
  Royal College-approved fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine, or equivalent, required.
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association in good standing is required.

Remuneration

• Fee-for-service remuneration
• Eligibility for Hospital On-Call Coverage (HOCC) funding, subject to the Hospital’s approved HOCC service plan and Ministry eligibility criteria
